Fantasy Trade: Machado For Miller

The trade is Ike Davis and Shelby Miller for Manny Machado and Jaime Garcia. My side is Davis Miller. This is a deep 16 team dynasty, starts 2 first basemen only 1 SS though. I have Andrus at SS, and a load of players at 1st. Smoak, Belt, Davis, Goldschmidt, Alonso, Duda, and C. Lee althought Duda Alonso and Lee are going to be in my OF for the time being. Also have J. Singleton in my minors.

Machado and Garcia

and to me its not even that close. Thats saying something since I like Miller as much as anyone. It is hard to find a SS talent like Machado and Garcia is underrated. I am not as high on Davis upside as some.

+1

An elite SS prospect with power potential beats any prospect but a great all around catcher.

Totally agree

To me, I think it’s safe to bet on a Top 10 position prospect than a Top 10 pitching prospect for fantasy purposes. Sure, there may be more upside with the pitching prospect, but there is more chance for bust (see Matusz, Brian). But when you factor in the fact that Machado plays a premium position, that Garcia is a solid (though as noted, a bit underrated) starter and that Davis has health issues and plays at a deep position (first base), then the trade is no contest.
