Brothers...

had only 40.7 MLB IP. Does that disqualify him for you?

Also, I’d add Emaus and LeMahieu, who now are w the Rockies. I’d drop Brown, who is 27 y/o, still in the minors and never much of a prospect.

LeM

Yeah, LeMahieu is still listed with the Cubs on my worksheet. I’l fix that.

jordan

For some reason I thought he was over 130 AB but he’s not. Will add

For those people comparing systems

Perhaps a decent variable to consider would be the total names John considers for these lists? Might that be another way to check depth?

I like

it. Not sure exactly how informative it would be, but I like the idea.

I haven’t paid the closest attention to these things but I get the impression that they’re usually around 40ish. Might be some heavy restriction of range…

Around 40ish but my impression is that some in the 47 range or so

I’m not sure how informative it would be either, but it might be worth glancing at

BA does that, in their prospect handbook.

They list the top 30 with some scouting information and stats, but list the rest in an org chart sort of way, by position.

Another name for consideration

David Kandilas. CF import from Australia. He did spend a few years at the rookie level, but is only 20 and put up a nice season in the Pioneer league.

By the way

Who is Andrew Brown?

by mkorpal on Dec 29, 2025 5:08 PM EST reply actions

he was a waiver claim by us from the Cardinals. Doesn’t look like he’d have the k-rate to be effective, though I kind of like him as a cheap platoon partner for Seth Smith/4th OF…ignoring the fact that the Cuddyer signing makes all of this irrelevant…

Is it too early for Helmis Rodriguez?

any love for Matthes???

It took him three years and three levels but he had a monster season at Modesto, & his road numbers were actually better than his home numbers, especially where power is concerned. His K/BB wasn’t terrific, but let’s be honest, the days of low strikeout high walk rates are pretty much over, as all these kids wanna do is mash the almighty homer, cause its sexy and pays more.

by WAUDodgersGM on Dec 30, 2025 11:34 AM EST reply actions

Matthes is legit.

He’ll be overlooked by many for being older, but he revamped his approach at the plate this year for some tremendous improvement in his contact without sacrificing much power. Also, Thurman Field at Modesto does have a low HR park factor, particularly for the California League, but a caveat with that would be that players Matthes’ age will usually have more power than younger players at the level, so those two points might balance out. He’s still a very interesting under the radar player that the Rockies org. expects to see in the majors in 2012.
