Back Home
**I'm back home after my one-day jaunt to Iowa. As you may know, I used Twitter to put up some comments on players during the game. I have to admit, I really don't like Twitter. I find it very difficult to limit messages to 110 characters. I found it very distracting to use it during a game, and found myself unable to concentrate well enough to take the scouting notes that I normally take during a game. I think Twitter has the effect of truncating thought, sort of like Newspeak in 1984.
I will continue to use it to let people know about article updates, but right now I don't like the idea of using it to post updates during games I am watching. But that's just my own initial reaction. I would be interested in knowing if any of you followed the Twitter feed during the game and found it useful. If you did, I will reconsider my negative Luddite reaction.
**At noon today we will be introducing a new logo and color scheme for Minor League Ball. It is based on the old one, but a bit less 2005 in appearance.
**Game Notes from yesterday will follow shortly.

That’s how I feel about Twitter. Given all the media available to us nowadays, why limit ourselves to 110 characters on a given topic? Seems like updates on a blog would give just as timely results, with the flexibility of expanding as needed.
I’m all in favor of succinct communication, but a one size fits all approach just seems silly.

As far as tweeting, it’s not something I do very much of. I will say though I love ease of having so much varied information right in one place where all I have to do is refresh the page. Very handy and quite the time saver.

The reason that Twitter limits characters per messages is a technological constraint, FWIW
It has to do with SMS messaging, which I believe is the protocol that Twitter uses (or used).

I like the changes John
I didn’t have an issue with the previous color scheme or logo, but I do like the toned down colors. The new logo looks good too, same theme with an updated look.

I also like it. Has a very clean, balanced look.
Baseball makes the world go 'round, or at least in my world it does.

Is the logo a particular ball player? Can’t tell if it is generic or not.

I own copyright to the photo. I’ll leave it at that. :)

But why a collage play when it's "Minor League Ball?"

Less 2005 in appearance = muscles are smaller

John
I like the new logo. The previous logo was a picture that I saw at the Negro League Museum is Kansas City. Green works well, plus the picture screams “Minor League Baseball”
