What about him?
You don’t like the ranking or you thought I omitted him?
by kmule on Feb 1, 2026 6:32 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
I like his ranking...
hes in a good spot. I love his potential.

Haha
My bad. I thought it was gonna be one of those “why isn’t he higher?!” posts.

THANK GOD
Someone has the nuts to put more deserving prospects ahead of Strasburg. Yea, he has ungodly potential, but he hasnt thrown a pitch outside the AFL… You will get a lot of hassle about it, but I will be the 1st to say thank you.
With Dee Gordon and Withrow, any reason why they are so low?

RE; Thank G-D
While I give Mr.Kmule all the credit in the world for stating his opinion, your argument of, he hasn’t thrown a pitch therefore he isn’t deserving is off base (in my opinion).
I’m pretty sure throwing a pitch or having a minor league plate appearance isn’t a prerequisite for being the top prospect in baseball or being “deserving”. If there are people who think he has the highest combination of upside, floor, etc. etc. then why shouldn’t they rank him first?
If someone’s parameters for his/her list is that someone has to have MiLB experience, that’s fine, but this list doesn’t have such parameters.
If you think Strasburg isn’t as talented as someone else that’s legitimate, but to think he is undeserving because he hasn’t reached a hypothetical threshold you have in the back of your mind, that is a weak argument.

Im not saying that I think that I you need expierence to be any type of a top prospect
but to be the #2 prospect in the game(hell, some say #1), you should have MiLB backing, IMO. There have been countless pitchers who looked great in college and struggled as a major leaguer. Not saying i think Strasburg will bust, simply that he should prove SOMETHING before he is the #2 guy in the game

holy shit
I’ve only had 3 beers but after reading that title I think I’m bombed! lol

what?
(is that simple enough? haha)
anyways, what I was saying that to be considered a top prospect in the game(I am talking literally the 1 and 2 prospects in the game, because after 1 and 2, the quality usually goes down somewhat) you need to have pitched in the minors, IMO, for some amount of time
by lakersdodgersyankees4life on Feb 2, 2026 12:31 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Why?
Is a prospect about what you have done, or what you will do? To me, and to most people, its about what you will do. Throwing a pitch in the minors isn’t going to change that.

Well no, but
It gives us more information allowing us to better evaluate what said player will do going forward. In my opinion, its pretty tough to project Strasburg at this point because he dominated a terrible conference, was good but not dominate at the AFL (honestly I expected more with the stuff he was showing), and has some question marks about his mechanics (which are obviously magnified because of his insane velocity). The stuff is certainly there to be the #1 prospect in the game, but its not unreasonable to want to see some more results against legitimate prospects before we crown the guy as the best prospect in the game.

I agree and disagree
I think Strasburg has as much talent as anybody on this list, but until he shows what he can do outside of the AFL (it’s all hype so far) and in the Minors, I don’t think he should be as high as some of the other guys on the list. Just my opinion. Not to mention I’m on the boat that thinks his arm will eventually fall off.
by kmule on Feb 1, 2026 7:33 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
That's exactly why
I put Strasburg at #7. I’d wait until seeing him in the Minors before ranking him any higher than that. And it’s not like 7 is a knock on the guy.
Withrow and Gordon both have very good potential, I can’t deny that. I’m waiting to see what Gordon does above LoA ball before putting him any higher. Now that I think about it, I probably should have put Withrow higher. I put him lower than I was originally going to because of command issues.

Fair enough
On almost every list if I have a similar question to this, the author simply ignores it. Thanks for the response.
I think a lot of people will be watching Gordon and Withrow next year to see if they both make the jump to elite.. and it could easily be said that Withrow is already very close to that level.

started off looking like the community list
then really falls apart.

is this list more for fantasy baseball ?
otherwise, i feel a. escobar is way too low.
by giantdonkey on Feb 1, 2026 7:36 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
IMO
He’ll be an all glove/speed type of player with a good BA but poor OPS. To me, that’s not really a guy that should be even a top 50 guy. Albeit, he has his value, there are just a lot of other guys I think can be more valuable. Still, this list is just my opinion.

no worries
not a criticism, just curious.
by giantdonkey on Feb 1, 2026 8:04 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I dont know...
A good BA, plus speed, and an excellent SS glove sounds like a top 50 prospect to me.

He'll have to get on base
To better utilize his speed, outside of playing defense.

"a good BA"?
I think “an average BA” is even kind of optimistic.

regarding Strasburg
did his performance at the Olympics factor in at all?
Even atheists believe in Matt Wieters

i do like
the inclusion of knapp and font. those two have been seemingly slipping in their prospect status since some of the top 10s/20s have come out. i think they are both very legit top 100 prospects. i’d have them ranked better than you do, but not everyone will have them on their lists at all. i think another name that is a little behind them, but also top 100 worth is Randall Delgado. you don’t have jiovanni mier ranked, but i have him as the 3rd overall SS and not far outside the top 50. you are seemingly down on all the top SS, save castro, but you did include several SS prospects clearly behind mier.
by auclairkeithbc on Feb 1, 2026 9:50 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Personally
I want to see what Mier does in higher levels of pro ball before putting him in (I had him just outside of the top 100). He had a very nice debut but what worries me are the reports of him being an all glove/no bat guy. Only time will tell.
by kmule on Feb 2, 2026 4:44 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Exactly how I feel.
Started him off in the 80’s on my top 100 but kept sliding him down until he was off the list altogether. The more I thought about it, read about him and watched video the more I saw guy whose bat Im really not sure about at all.

Another list
With Arrieta over Britton, seems every list I look at has them flipped

Ackley
finally someone puts of/2b next to his name. (the 2b part)

Yeah but...
Its not a big deal at all. But, isn’t that like putting LF next to Chris Carter’s name? He hasn’t played there much at all. Reports vary about whether or not he’ll actually even play there.
