After Monty gets on, which should be this round, I’m starting to vote for Moose, so hopefully he’ll be on the poll next. I dont think he’s been on yet.

well i'm not going to vote for him.
but a lot of guys have got tested in spots they wouldn’t be expected to make it, a couple of them actually making the list.

Moose tester
I’d have a tester for him soon, as well as one for Beckham, Vitters, and to a lesser extent Hosmer (maybe after another 10- 15 above get on). I wouldn’t take them over some of the guys listed here, but certainly over quite a few in the tester pool already.

Castro/Montgomery should come soon
I’m not ready to go with Jordan Lyles just yet. I like Lyles enough, but there are a cluster of arms this year and I prefer a lot of the guys on the board right now (and perhaps some that aren’t on) over Lyles. Green … I haven’t contemplated where I’d put him all that much, so I can’t say, but I feel like I’m at least 10 slots away from voting for him.

Green/Gordon
I had a tough time deciding which I prefer. I went with Gordon, but I hope Green gets enough votes to stay on the ballot.
by jar75 on Feb 1, 2026 6:23 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
I definitely think Green is better
But I am in the minority on my view of Green and Gordon. I think Green is a slightly worse prospect than Jiovanni Mier. He might have a slightly higher ceiling, but even though he is older he has still has a lot of questions. Gordon is not impressive to me. If everything goes perfectly well, he ends up being Escobar. But that is unlikely in my opinion. Again, I’m pretty down on Gordon, I see Green where most do, but I see Mier as a little better than most seem to. I do follow the Astros closely, but I’m not really an Astros fan. I used to own a team that was full of Astros prospects, but not anymore, so the bias is pretty weak.

I would rank them:
Gordon (who I voted for)
[Drabek]

[Mitchell]
Scheppers
[Colome]
[Simon Castro]
Montgomery
[Kalish]
[Weeks]
[Ynoa]
[Gibson]
[Crow]
Lyles
…
Rondon
Arrieta
Castro

Well, you should reconsider it.
Regardless of what your preconceptions are, scouts see a teenager throwing a live fastball low to mid 90’s, two potential secondary pitches and tons and tons of projection.
I have him right ahead of Kyle Gibson. I think that’s a pretty solid discount, since Ynoa has Ace ceiling. Should I be putting him behind MOTR types with injury issues like Gibson? I dont see it. I think dropping him this far was fair.
Kind of the same thing as Chapman… line up all the CPL pitching prospects and have them throw and I feel Ynoa would be one of the most impressive you saw.
by alskor on Feb 1, 2026 11:09 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Absolutely
Grant Green… not a huge fan of the swing, not a huge fan of the glove… what does Green project to do well, again? He’s a big guy with a decent bat and decent glove. Above average kind of player if he stays at SS. I dont see an impact guy.
Weeks? Plus hit tool, plus approach, plus plus speed, some power projection. Maybe he flames out b/c of injuries but I’ll take the upside of Weeks.
by alskor on Feb 1, 2026 11:03 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Green has solid tools across the board. I like his hit tool quite a bit (although the plate discipline definitely concern me). The defensive issues seem to be primarily driven by concerns about his arm strength more so than his range. I definitely think he can stay at SS.
I like Weeks, but he is pretty small and I’d bet on Green being the bigger power threat of the two. As far as speed, KG said Green was a 60-65 runner and he called Weeks a 60 runner.
Weeks has the edge as far as plate discipline is concerned, but I think that’s his only real advantage over Green.
by jar75 on Feb 1, 2026 11:32 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I don't have Green much lower than Weeks
On Green’s bat - I really don’t see a lot of power and i don’t like his wing. Kind of an inside out swing… and there are the discipline issues you mentioned. I do think he’ll be the slightly bigger power threat than Weeks.
On Green’s glove - I was under the impression his range is pretty unimpressive for a SS and that his arm isnt good. Many people have speculated the range and arm could mean a move to 2B or even 3B.
I see Green as a kind of part Mark Teahen/ part Michael Young kind of player… if that makes any sense… I really hate inside out swings.
Im sure Ive seen Weeks as a 70 runner. I think part of the issue with Weeks is inconsistent effort. He kind of cruises a lot and so sometimes scouts see him and don’t love him. Other times he flashes great tools.
Ive made no secret of the fact Im higher on Weeks than most, though. I really like his game and tools. I really believe Weeks has a slightly higher chance of being an impact player than Green. I think many would probably disagree with me… so be it. Time will tell.
by alskor on Feb 1, 2026 11:48 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Weeks
The Good: Weeks’ tools rank with anyone of the system. Like older brother Rickie, Weeks’ bat speed is off the charts and, despite his size, he’s shown an ability to punish mistakes, and projects to hit 15-20 home runs annually. He’s a 60 runner on the 20-80 scouting scale and knows how to use his speed on the bases. He also has an excellent understanding of the strike zone, which should lead to 70-90 walks annually.

I wasnt doubting KG had him there... I was saying Ive seen him listed higher elsewhere...
I googled it and found a few…
GRADES (Present/Future):
Hit 40/60
Power 40/45
Run 70/70
Arm 45/45
Field 45/50
Overall Future Potential: 54
http://baseballbeginnings.com/2010/01/16/jemile-weeks-report/
Weeks isn’t as physically talented as his older brother, but he’s not lacking for tools. He has 70 speed on the 20-80 scouting scale and unlike Rickie, he’s a quality defender who leaves no doubt that he can play second base.
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=3252909
Also, in 2009 KG actually described him as having “plus-plus speed”

Posted too quickly
Doesn’t mean it wasn’t said elsewhere, but BA doesn’t a rating for Weeks’ speed in the A’s top 10 and Goldstein says 60 in BP’s A’s top 10.

I really can’t tell the difference between a good swing and a bad swing, so I won’t even touch that subject.
Green’s defense has been a bit of a question mark, but Callis has remained very confident in his ability to play SS. Here’s part of the BA write up:
Lean and athletic, he shows smooth actions and strong instincts at shortstop. He has good range and a solid arm, and his hands work well
and from KG’s:
He possesses excellent defensive fundamentals […] His arm is a bit light for shortstop in terms of both strength and accuracy, making him below average on plays to his right.
That leads me to believe that the main question revolves around his arm.
by jar75 on Feb 1, 2026 11:59 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Also
scouts outside the organization weren’t sold that he’d be more than an average defender at SS
Nonetheless, they are still projecting him as a potential all-star SS, overall. Really, he sounds like a guy who does pretty much everything well enough. I think as a top college draft pick, he suffers a bit in comparison to guys like Tulowitzki or Longoria. But if we thought he was a Tulowitzki or Longoria, he’d be in the top 30, right?
by acerimusdux on Feb 2, 2026 10:24 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
If we thought he was the next Tulo/Longoria
He’d be ahead of Strasburg and Heyward. He was definitely overrated after his cape season, but I think there’s a lot to like with Green and the pendulum swung a bit too far in the opposite direction.
