Minnesota Twins Organization Discussion
I am starting work on the 2011 Baseball Prospect Book this week. We will have the order site set up soon, and I'll let you know when we start taking pre-orders.
For those of you new, the first three teams I do every year are the Minnesota Twins, Atlanta Braves, and Kansas City Royals, in that order. I post a Top 20 Organization Prospects list when a team is done. Before we get to that point, we begin with an organization discussion, followed by a preliminary prospect list.
So we'll start the process today with the Minnesota Twins discussion thread. What do you think of this organization? Any sleepers you like?

For my own selfish reasons (owning them both in a sim league), I’m very curious to read updated reports on Arcia and am hoping Benson can build on his solid performance this year. Both players seemingly improved their stock a good bit but most people aren’t ready to buy into them just yet.

Adrian Salcedo
Did them throwing him around all year (High-A to Rookie ball Starting to Rookie ball relieving) affect his development any at all or is he still regarded around the same he was last year. He’s still only 19 but all that moving and shaking looks like Brandon Morrow 2.0 (not in reference to his stuff, just the handling)
Usually I agree but Arcia could probably hit a bounced pitch out of the park right now. -KBR

I'd wondered that too, Archie
but someone hipped me to the fact that Salcedo was just sent to the FSL to get extra work and then sent to the more appropriate Appy League when its season began. He’s considered advanced, and a great strike thrower, and I don’t think it did him any harm to see what happens when you throw too many strikes to advanced hitters. I suspect it was a good learning experience, and I trust the Twins on this one.

It's nice of Rod Carew to visit that kid in jail
I wonder what he did.

are the scouting reports catching up to the stats, or is it a mirage?

nah the reports arn't flashy
a low 90’s fastball
with average slider
and maybe plus change
location seems to be his strong point and a decent amount of GB’s not on Gibson ’s level though
I called it - Joe Mauer's first career Home-Run at Target Field !!!
Why Oh Why did the D'Backs select A.J. Pollock over Mike Trout?

seems like a GB version of Kevin Slowey if all goes right for him.....
you could say they are very different pitchers though so i dunno

Oswaldo Arcia
I know he is someone who could break out and sort of already has, but does anyone know more than that? Some help or insight would be nice

BP Quotes
A 19-year-old Venezuela, Arcia has been dominating the Appalachian League. He leads the circuit in home runs, RBIs, hits and slugging and is second in batting. His line of .392/.434/.773 (BA/OBP/SLG) in 44 games says everything you need to know about his performance, and his scouting reports are almost as impressive. He generates tremendous raw power with a combination of bat speed and strength that is rarely seen in players so young. He’s played some center this year but will be a right fielder down the road. If there’s a problem, it’s this: He’s a very aggressive hitter. That could lead to issues as he continues to develop. For now, though, the reports are all good.
To say Arcia is having a good U.S. debut is understating things just a bit, as the 19-year-old Venezuelan is batting a ridiculous .394/.447/.781 in 34 Appy League games. He’s not your typical Latin American outfielder with length, athleticism and projection, he’s more of a stocky type with a short, direct path to the ball and plenty of leverage in his swing. Destined for a corner outfielder spot (he has enough arm for right), he needs to be a hitting machine, and so far, he’s just that.

I like what the Twins do
They bring players up their way as well. Twins baseball is fun to watch and should be an example to all teams. Do it your way, with the right people, and the right type of player and you’ll be fine.

Bromberg
In terms of guys who pretty consistently fly under the radar, I think he’s a a good bet. He certainly fits the mold of guys who are likely to succeed with the Twins.
As I’ve said previously, I just don’t get the love for Joe Benson.

Steve Singleton
Curious about Singleton as 2B/SS. Had healthy year for a change, hit o.k. in AA (54 xbh, 57 k).
Is he a late-bloomer or a non-factor? Utility guy or org fodder?
