Fair deals for Joakim Soria in a dynasty league
The Kansas City Outlaws are shopping Joakim Soria in my DMB dynasty league. He has the same contract as in real life. Here are the offers. Please rank them according to which is the best haul. Are these deals fair? Should the teams throw in more or is KC getting a steal?
Also, give your opinion on what you think Soria should be worth if KC decided to deal him now (i.e. B+ pitching prospect, C+ position player and an interesting low A ball arm)

Montero/Phelps
Seems like the no brainer best choice to me. Montero is the best player. Close to the majors, Top 5 prospect, electric bat that should play anywhere but will look if he can be catcher eligible.

Of course, that depends on your MLB team needs, but Montero is the best player offered, both in talent and projectability to the bigs.

in a vacuum, sure.
but without knowing what the KC Outlaws have in their Minors (lacking up the middle positional depth, no pitching, no OF, no 3B, too many Catcher/DH types, etc.) it’s hard to really say which one is the best.
If it was without knowing anything else, you HAVE to take Montero and Phelps. There’s no other option.
Even with knowing everything, a deeper analysis tells me that that is BY FAR the best offer. Would the Dragons replace Martinez with S. Castro? If so, then I would have to think about that one.

Even without knowing the status of his minor league team, I’d take this deal hands down. Montero has tons of trade value and can be shipped to a team to fill in his needs. Montero is universally praised and is as close to a sure thing as a hitting prospect as you can get while still being called a “prospect”. None of the other guys in the other deals can say that, and will depend very much on how the other owner feels about it.
If, for whatever reason, you don’t go with Montero / Phelps, I’d do Archer/Martinez or Leake/Villar.

Easily Montero/Phelps
Jesus is much more valuable than a closer… you can pick up serviceable closers all the time, at least in our league, but potential middle of the order hitters are extremely hard to come by.

Which deal is second-best?
Obviously Montero/Phelps is a no-brainer at #1 (regardless of who’s in KC’s system). In the same way that “who’s the best baseball player of all time?” isn’t an interesting question until you add “…excluding Babe Ruth,” I think the OP can be saved by asking what the second-best deal is.
If you go with Chicago, you get the best overall pitching prospect (Archer) and the best overall non-Montero hitting prospect (Martinez). In a vacuum, that’d be my choice.
If you go with Milwaukee, you get the most minor-league pitching talent (Odorizzi and Jeffress) if you’re already full up in the OF.
If you go with Philadelphia (?), you get the least downside in Mike Leake.
I can’t see an argument for Washington (with Zimmerman’s surgery) or Brooklyn.

I kinda figured Montero was the best?
What’s the best of the rest?

I short-read the intro
To rank the deals:
1. New York - IMO, the obvious winner; even if you had Mauer and McCann at C, you could easily flip Montero for any need on your team.
2. Milwaukee - Odorizzi is one of the best young arms out there (I prefer him to any other pitcher in all of these offers); Jeffress is a nice-throw in who might pan out as a late-inning option.
3. Chicago - a nice deal to be sure, I just prefer Odorizzi to Archer right now. J.D. Martinez is still a ways away, and I don’t trust his hitting prowess translating to the big leagues. Some might flip the order of these two offers (CHI & MIL) - personal preference, I suppose.
4. Washington - well below the previous two offers, but I like JZ’s ability, even post-TJS. Burgess might be a decent corner OF/4th OF if ever given a chance - nice combo of power/walks.
5. Philadephia - never been a Leake fan - he’s a solid #4 SP, but the win streak was a fluke; Villar seems like a classic all-tools, no-skills type prospect.
