Questions for the Community

I have a question for you guys. I promise this is not some sort of marketing ploy, but I'm genuinely curious about it and this information can help me schedule blog posts more effectively.

How many times a day do you guys log on here? What times of day are you most frequently here? What days of the week are you most often here?

I'm on here constantly when I'm not at work.

Generally to read, and occasionally post a comment or ask a question.

I’m most interested in various rankings and opinions on players, because they inspire arguments/debates/opposing viewpoints, which is what I want to read because I, as a reader, can take the information and form my own opinion from the arguments of other, better informed posters.

Also, I’m a Pirates fan, so I particularly favor information about their prospects. But I’m sure that’s true about every fan on here, as everybody has a favorite team to some degree.

I'm here pretty close to daily...

I’m most interested in hearing about new guys. Love the minor league updates (if that’s what they’re called) because they occasionally spotlight a guy I haven’t heard of. The other things are of interest of course, but its the potential to hear about someone new, or new pieces of information about a guy I don’t know much about, that drives it for me.

That said, to answer your questions: A couple times a day, once early in the day, once in the late afternoon.

Weekdays: I’m here at lunchtime, then once or twice if I’m home that night.

Weekends: I’m here maybe once in the morning and once when I get home at night.

I'm here a lot

Basically every day(a few exceptions here and there, but probably less than 10 a year). Multiple times a day, easily 10-15 if not more. Usually check the first time by 10am or so, last look is usually by 2am.

I tend to be on throughout the day. I tend to log on more when there is interesting content on the fanposts.

Smaller Nerd

I guess I’m a slightly smaller nerd, with an average of about 5 logins a day when I have time. My job allows me to be on the computer a lot when in the office. My job makes much less money when I’m in the office though, damn real estate market:)

Daily

I usually check in once or twice a day. However, if there is an update and I see something I am particularly interested in, I’ll check multiple times throughout the day. I tend to check fairly early in the morning before my college classes (before 8am CST) then I’ll check again in the afternoon or early evening.

Baseball makes the world go 'round, or at least in my world it does.

As much as it takes

to get that day’s input read. This site hides little nuggets everywhere. You never know what post/responce is going to spark a thought.

Daily

I come to this blog daily and just check in when there’s new stuff posted. Probably about 3 times a day, although that may decrease as my fantasy league draws to a close and my beloved JAys finish their season. I read this blog for minor league information on players I might add to my insanely competitive keeper league team and also to keep an eye out for anything that might pertain to the Jays minor league system. Other than that I have zero interest in minor league baseball, but generally enjoy the blog and the insight that is shared here. Most common times are 10-11 am…5-6 pm…2-3 am as well.

4-5 times a day

this is one of my morning “newspapers” that I read at 10am before work. I read it intermittently through the work day. When I get home at 7 or so, I do a full site reading including all of the comments because damn if there isn’t some great debate/ info in there. Keep up the great work John and thanks a ton! Great, great site!

"Newspaper"

I like that analogy, and am similar in my habits. I generally have a list of 5-10 sites I check at least once in the morning, this of course being one. Then, I check out things during slow times at different points during the day.

by killa on Sep 11, 2025 4:39 PM EDT up reply actions

Several times daily

I check for new posts, then new comments in the milb daily thread in the morning, check back at lunchtime at work for new posts, then a couple times at least in the evening.

Best estimate is every 3 hours

I check 4 or 5 times a day for new content.

A few times a day

It’s easily the best way to make it through Accounting class.

But I’d say at least 3-4 times before 5 PM and then at least once before bed.

Usually I agree but Arcia could probably hit a bounced pitch out of the park right now. -KBR

I get all of your newest posts sent to my Google Reader.

I would think its a fairly common way others read your articles too. Technically I am not logging into the website, but it allows me to read pretty much every article. I do it mostly during weekdays, in and around normal work hours-ish. Noon to 4PM is probably my peak hours to read news, your articles being among them. I’ll log in more often (including weekends) when you’re doing your Top 20 lists (Top 20 Season Reviews too). They are probably my favorite things here.

Does this help?

by basemonkey on Sep 10, 2025 9:17 PM EDT reply actions

kind of

Kind of. I’ve never used Google reader or any RSS service.

by John Sickels on Sep 10, 2025 10:58 PM EDT up reply actions

Well, a RSS service is...

..really not any different from logging in the normal way, as far as you’re concerned.

The only real difference is for the user. The user gets new articles in his/her RSS reader as they become available. So, in other words, whenever you write a new article here, it will appear in my RSS app marked as “Minorleagueball.com” the next time I open it. As far as you’re concerned it, there is no distinction between this way of viewing your article vs. through the normal way. The only difference comes when/if I wanted to participate in the discussion, at which point, I would have to go to the website and log in just like anyone else.

Sorry if this is inarticulate, confusing, or just plain nerdy. Hope this one helps.

Frequency

I use an RSS reader, so I only visit when I see a post that interests me. I rarely comment.

But I also check in every day at night to see the MILB daily fanpost.

Couple times each day

Check posts/articles after lunch at work and then for sure the MiLB daily fanpost.

A lot throughout the day as I am working on the PC too often

I usually check this blog to “relax” from working :). or if it’s a rainy day…more than often.

I’m on usually around 7am (est) and then sporadically after work til around 1am…Weekends I’m a hit and miss kinda guy depending on which season it is (I coach HS sports) but still manage to check at least once daily…

There are days when I don’t even turn the computer on but typically I visit several times a day when time permits. Most of the times I login though, it is for 20-30 seconds to see there is nothing new I want to discuss.

Since some people added what content they enjoy the most, I typically look at anything that is a good discussion. I actually don’t pay too much attention to the smack downs or crystal balls, even though they do occasionally have a good discussion. I enjoy the minor league updates, the draft content, the top 20s, but most of my time on this site is probably spent browsing the fanposts.

by jfish26101 on Sep 11, 2025 9:42 AM EDT reply actions

Few times a day.

On weekdays, I check in the morning, the afternoon, and at night, usually.
Weekends: It varies, but up to five times a day, probably.

Google Reader

I don’t go to the site actually because I have the RSS feed on my google reader, but I do want to say that this is my #1 MUST READ site on a daily basis. I read anything and everything and check my google reader several times throughout the day to see if there is new content available.

I get on here to look and read everyday. Usually in the evening. I also read sometimes on my phone while I am at work but that is only a few times a week.
I read anything about the Indians (favorite team) and Rays (dynasty league team).

Probably about 40-50 times a day.

I set my alarm clock to every two hours during the night, so I can log on. Also, at work I am on alot. And when I have a date, I say I have to go to the bathroom so I can go on here using my iphone.

Just kidding

probably 2-3 times a day. once in the morning, once at lunchtime, once before I go to bed

Daily

1-2 times a day, unless there’s an AQA thread, at which point I’m on near-constantly. Oh, and during the weeks immediately before and after the Rule 4 draft, the frequency goes up quite a bit.

I try for daily visit(s)

Certainly on the weekends I visit each morning and often again in the evening; during the week, usually in the evenings…depends on work schedule…Thx John
