I will do this in real time as long as I can. This is NOT THE REAL TWINS DRAFT. This is my Shadow Draft.

36) Jose Iglesias, C, Coastal Carolina University

Real Twins picks Wimmers, Goodrum, Rosario, and Roberts were all on my personal preference list and I am sticking with them. We really seem to be on a similar path this year. I had planned on Rosario in the fourth round and they took him. I was going to go with Phil Gosselin in the fifth, with Roberts as one of my backup plans, then Gosselin went to the Braves with the pick before. Roberts was a monster at High Point this year, with power, speed, and a high walk rate.

I had originally drafted Coastal Carolina senior catcher Jose Iglesias in the sixth round. However, it turns out that right before the draft, he gave scouts indications that he wasn't sure he wanted to even play professional baseball, and as a result he was not drafted at all in real life despite the fact that he's a Johnny Bench Award finalist this year. I would most certainly have not have drafted him as early as the sixth round if I had been privy to this last-second information. Therefore, I am replacing him with RHP Rett Varner, who I was also considering in the sixth round, and moving Iglesias to the bottom of the draft list.

Phillies ended up with 4 of your guys

…Not a big deal but given that there are 30 teams, 4 seems statistically high - Knigge, Alonso, Duffy and Nesseth

yeah

Yeah, noticed that.

One possible change. Sixth rounder Jose Iglesias wasn’t drafted in real life, apparently because he told scouts he might take a regular job outside of baseball. Obviously I was not privy to this information and would not have drafted him if I had known that. I might need to slot someone else in there, but will make a decision before the short-season leagues start up.
