by the way
that comes out to .280/.402/.484, which fits with the Paul O'Neill comps

no
That OBP would not come out to .402. It would be about .358. The walks must be added to the numerator and the denominator.

color me pessimistic
I'm rooting for the guy, but other than the second half of last season, injuries seem to crop up with him, and cause him to miss games or bother him enough to drag down his stats a little.

actually
Looking at it, if you extrapolate it over 162 games, it's not too different than the rest of the community so far.

So basically, I'm banking on him to play well, but have to miss a month or so with injury.

14 Doubles? What?
That would be one every 35 ABs.  In the minors he had one ever 17 ABs and so far in the majors one every 14 ABs.  Unless he jumps to about 40 homers, no way he hits only 14 doubles.

I like his 2nd half numbers last year but I think the team holds him back-he will hit middle of the order and struggle to adjust being pitched around
I like him blowing up more next year as this year is an adjustment year where he needs to just stay in the lineup and put together a full season

Hermida Projection
Am I wrong, or was there a lot of 20/20 projections for this guy when he was climbing the ladder.
I really see these projections of a .280 avg as being a bit low due to his turn around last season...

Possible conservative on the homeruns; could see him turning some doubles into homers, hitting 22-25 dingers.

AB's?
If he actually plays 151 games and is a starting OF, shouldn't he have at least 80 more AB's which would increase his counting stats like HR's, doubles, etc?

by DrBGiantsfan on Mar 9, 2026 5:44 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Question
Why do most people keep projecting a full season from him? He has always been injured, so what's different about this year?

+1
I was just signing up to project him for about 60-100 games.

by mynameistyler on Mar 9, 2026 6:14 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

because
it is easier to project what a healthy full season would be rather than saying "well he is going to be injured this many games or this many"

yeah, everyone knows he is hurt alot, but, there is no way to tell whether that means 100 games this year or 140.

you cant predict something like that with any type of accuracy or knowledge, its just a guess on how "serious" your predicted injury would be...so, not only are you predicting that he will be injured, but trying to guess the injury

just predict the full season so we can all be on the same page.

He's kinda like a young Shawn Green.... The number may decrease since the loss of Miggy.  I forgot to include that in the stats...but Hermida will be a good, but not great player for a little while.

I agree that he has never shown the propensity to stay healthy and I'm not sure if he will ever be a major power hitter either (40+ HR's) but he is a VERY good young hitter.
