Ryan Braun
A guy I really like in the college ranks: third baseman Ryan Braun of the University of Miami-Florida.
Braun is hitting .417/.503/.736, with 11 homers, 20 steals, 26 walks, 25 strikeouts in 144 at-bats. All of these numbers are excellent. He is showing power, speed, and the ability to control the strike zone. Scouts are reportedly very impressed with him. He has both tools and skills, and should interest both stat-oriented and traditional scouting teams.
I do regard him as fantasy-draftable already, if your league has a large farm roster with long-term keepers and such.
UPDATE: Reader sdangler has posted a diary about Baylor RHP prospect Mark McCormick. Check it out there on the right hand side of the page.

Decision Making
I've watched Braun quite a bit and agree that he's a great talent. In terms of other Hurricanes that I've seen over the years, Pat Burrell is probably the only one who's had a better career (although he has much more speed than Pat).
Braun has made a number of baserunning mistakes this year (getting picked off, etc). Will that affect him in the draft?

Re: Braun
No shame in that. Burrell was an absolute beast in college. One of the all-time great NCAA careers.

Agreed
I wonder though how they'd compare if they both used the same kind of bats. Pat played before the bats were slowed down.

All-Time College Players
Is there a college baseball encyclopedia?
John - I think a great feature for the website would be your list of the top 10 greatest college players, the top 10 greatest single seasons, etc. I'd love to see something like that. For instance, I've always heard that Pete Incaviglia was had the greatest single college season of all time, but I can't even find his stats (let alone anyone else's).

Tonight vs. UMD
He will be an excellent prospect. He is a great fielder and deceptively fast (20 for 25 in SB att.)
