2011 World Series Game Seven Prediction and Discussion

Managers Tony La Russa of the St. Louis Cardinals and Ron Washington of the Texas Rangers (Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty Images)

I predicted that the Cardinals would win this series in seven games, and I see no reason to change that after last night's heroics. I predict that tonight's game will be something of an anti-climax, and the Cards will take an early lead over the Rangers and maintain it.

Cardinals win 8-4. Albert Pujols hits a home run. David Freese goes 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI.

I will predict

A Cardinals victory - 6-4. I don’t expect Carpenter to pitch well, but LaRussa will likely have a very quick hook. I do not expect Harrison to pitch well either. Washington made, IMO, a critical error in starting Harrison instead of Holland for game 7. I would have a different prediction if Holland was pitching tonight. He has been Texas’ best starter this postseason.

Washington will have a quick hook tonight as well

No doubt about it. I’d be surprised if Holland wasn’t the 1st guy out of the bullpen for Texas as I’m also sure Harrison won’t pitch well tonight.

you think Holland is going to be available tonight?

You know he pitched two innings yesterday . . .seems much more likely that C.J. Wilson (who was warming up at the end of the game last night) would get the call if Harrison can’t hack it.

Rangers beat writers are saying that CJ will be the first out of the pen

Anyway, Rangers get 6 strong from Harrison and ride CJ home. 6-2 victory

Just don't piss her off, otherwise she'll get all Dien Bien Phu up in your Boxer Rebellion - caknuck

Last night was simply amazing...

with that said I feel like tonight will be a 1 sided affair, I originally predicted Rangers in 7….now I’m starting to feel like Cards behind Carpenter……but I’ll say Rangers 4- Cardinals 2 .

I'm saying Redbirds 5-3

Figures to be a night of moves, and while I don’t care for LaRussa I feel his moves are better than Washingtons for the most part.

If Sammy Solis would just learn Satchel Paige's "hesitation pitch", he'd be in DC right now.

I felt

like this series really illustrated how little impact — especially positive impact — the managers have on games. Most of the move by both TLR and Wash were either neutral or a hindrance. This one was down to the players.

Too late to make a prediction?

Was going to say Rangers 7-5, Pujols gets walked all night, Napoli plays a hero role. Feliz redeems himself.

Cards in seven, and a 4-run margin

Sickels calls it on the nose!

One of the better World Series of my nearly 50-year lifetime. Top 5 or 6, I’d say. And the penultimate game? Wow.

That was a crazy game.

Who would of though in August that the world series would of went too St. Louis.
