Good morning everyone and welcome to the Minor League Ball Morning Report for Wednesday, May 9th, 2018. Let’s take a look at some events from yesterday.
****Chicago White Sox prospect Gavin Sheets went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI for High-A Winston-Salem in Carolina League action. A second round pick in 2017 from Wake Forest, Sheets is hitting .297/.426/.384 with 21 walks against 16 strikeouts in 99 at-bats. His strike zone judgment has been superb but he has yet to tap into the raw power in his 6-4, 230 frame.
****Los Angeles Dodgers pitching prospect Dennis Santana threw six strong innings for Double-A Tulsa against Springfield, giving up five hits and a run, not walking anyone, while whiffing 11. He now has a 2.12 ERA in 34 innings with a 48/10 K/BB.
****His teammate outfielder DJ Peters went 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs for the Drillers.
****Colorado Rockies infield prospect Garrett Hampson went 2-for-4 with a home run for Double-A Hartford against Binghamton, raising his season line to .292/.389/.460.
****Los Angeles Angels prospect Jo Adell, just coming off the disabled list with a thumb injury, went 4-for-5 with two runs scored for the Low-A Burlington Bees of the Midwest League. He’s now hitting .333/.417/.490.
****More highlights can be found in yesterday’s Gameday discussion thread.
