Jake Marisnick vs Bubba Starling

I am intrigued by these two prospects. As I read about them they both sound similar; athletic, toolsy guys. Both project as CFs, though Marisnick could move to a corner. Both are young, right handed hitters. From what I have read, Marisnick worked out some kinks in his swing and it sounds like as he fills out, the power will follow. When reading about Starling, it sounds like the power is there, and as he works out his swing (I think I read this from KLaw), his power will be even better. Goldstein has them ranked right by each other, John has them at both B+, but most places I see have Starling about 10 spots or more above Marisnick. So... who would you rather have? I keep going back and forth. On the one hand, I like Marisnick, and his time should be in the next 2 years, but if Starling is all he is cracked up to be, he might not be that far behind. Is this apples and oranges or are these two players closer to one another than we see? And who would you rather have on your team?

Though a Blue Jays fan

I won’t go against the industry consensus: Marisnick has a high ceiling; Starling’s is even higher, and I’m pretty confident he’ll start strong. Starling has the edge on virtually every tool. One thing to note though is that Starling is only 16 months younger than Marisnick, despite being drafted 2 years apart.

Is this a fantasy/roto question or a general prospect question

If the former, I’d go with Jake Marisnick but might ‘swing for the fences’ otherwise considering Bubba Starling’s talent.
