Cut bait on Fish

No way this Rule 5 guy sticks. He stinks.

Replace him with Shaeffer Hall, High A left handed pitcher.

Good command of three pitches, low walk totals and decent K rates.

He was also promoted mid-season last year.

by thejobarules on Dec 13, 2025 8:22 PM EST reply actions

I’m pretty sure the rule would is that Rule 5 guys have to be in the book, though I really agree with you. Hall needs to be on despite being a soft tossing lefty. He has done well.

by sjkqw on Dec 13, 2025 8:27 PM EST up reply actions

Fish

Fish has to be in…rule 5 guy. Same with Turpen.

I was looking at Hall…I agree, he needs to be in. But I’ll have to cut someone else. I am emotionally attached to Pat Venditte and I like Chase Whitley a lot too…

by John Sickels on Dec 14, 2025 11:33 AM EST up reply actions

You think Fish stinks?

It depends on how much seasoning you give him. Some, particularly Japanese teams, may not mind that is he is a raw talent. Yankee management may just grill him anyway. Its time to sink or swim though. If his arm is fried, you’ll just have to butter him up for next year.

He’s the kind of pitcher that might needs special coaching, perhaps from former Yankee pitcher Steve Trout?

Brad Suttle should be on the list. He really heated up at the end.
I also reccomend Nik Turley and Shaeffer Hall.
I understand leaving off Gavin Brooks due to the injury. If this is an interest level thing, I totally get it, but I think he deserves to be on it.
de Leon, Sosa, and O’Brien are 3 guys to watch, but I don’t see who to cut for them

Connor Mullee must be taken off. I don’t think Whitley needs to be on either.
I don’t dislike Gamel, but I don’t see him as a top 50 in this organization even.

Add: Brad Suttle, Nik Turley, Shaeffer Hall
Remove: Connor Mullee, Chase Whitley, Ben Gamel

by sjkqw on Dec 13, 2025 8:26 PM EST reply actions

I'll sacrifice Turley

if Raffy DePaula is eligible. I wasn’t sure if you rank that type of player before they are in the states unless they are in the top few.

by sjkqw on Dec 13, 2025 8:56 PM EST up reply actions

Gary Sanchez made it last year

despite not playing a game in the State syet.

by Lolmoarpl0x on Dec 13, 2025 10:09 PM EST up reply actions

To be fair, Gary Sanchez and Miguel Sano were so highly touted before even coming. DePaula is very good, but i’m not sure he is top tier.

by sjkqw on Dec 14, 2025 6:56 PM EST up reply actions

ok...

Ok….I’ll cut Mullee for Hall. Not cutting Whitley and Gamel. and I’m not big on Turley. Suttle…we’ll see.

by John Sickels on Dec 14, 2025 11:34 AM EST up reply actions

Suttle is a no

24 year old in A+ with too many strikeouts and a poor offensive line, I’ll pass.

by cookiedabookie on Dec 14, 2025 1:00 PM EST up reply actions

I completely agree about Suttle. Not so much Hall . He is old for his level. I also agree with your cuts particularly Gamel.

by Jtmc on Dec 14, 2025 5:49 PM EST up reply actions

I'd take out Connor Mullee and Ben Gamel

replacing them with Rafaek DePaula and Eduardo Sosa.

by Lolmoarpl0x on Dec 13, 2025 8:38 PM EST reply actions

I like his hitting ability.

I’m not so sure of his other tools. Projects to be a corner outfielder. We’ll see though.

by Lolmoarpl0x on Dec 13, 2025 8:46 PM EST up reply actions

I'm assuming it's a typo

but Corban Joseph’s not a catcher, he’s a 2b.

mulee is gone in favor of Hall. I don’t see what’s so hot about Ryan Pope.

Don't know Yanks system

but wasn’t Kelvin De Leon a top international sign not to long ago

Has he completely fallen off the map or still got potential?

by Bud Light on Dec 13, 2025 10:36 PM EST reply actions

He's a raw guy.

But certainly a good prospect.

deleon

he was pretty bad in the NY-P. Good tools, doesn’t know how to use them.

Yeicok Calderon

An 18-yr old hits .339/.439/.551 and controls the zone. We should notice.

If you need to drop someone, I don’t think Rob Segedin hasn’t done a ton to distinguish himself.

DSL guys….i don’t have room for many of them.

by John Sickels on Dec 14, 2025 11:38 AM EST up reply actions

Calderon’s not a top-thirty guy this year in BA’s list if I’m remembering right. I think he has a brutal glove and poor athleticism. Worth waiting to see if hits stateside, if you ask me.

by limozeen on Dec 14, 2025 4:59 PM EST up reply actions

I like Yeicok

Hopefully starts in the US next year.

I see 6 very good prospects..

Montero - A
Banuelos - B+
Betances - B
Sanchez - B
Brackman - B-
Romine - B-

..rest are C+/C imo

I'd give Phelps at least B-

Unsure whether I’d go higher until I hear more about his secondary stuff.

Montero

He hit more than 20 HRs in AAA as a 20 year old, what do does a guy have to do to get an “A” grade?

Have some defensive value

I think he has the best bat in the minors, but there’s more to baseball than just having a bat.

http://bullpenbanter.com/

by jar75 on Dec 15, 2025 10:41 AM EST up reply actions

I’d have to give Banuelos a A- but I do agree with the rest of your rankings.

by TheHughesUnit on Dec 14, 2025 2:34 PM EST up reply actions

For Banuelos

I’d be satisfactory if he gets a consideration of A- but realistically, I think B+ could be good enough. The high grade comes from his ability to command and control (and increased velocity) with AND a very young age for the AA/AAA level for 2011. But for now I see people projecting him as #2/3 starter in the future and some do worry about his small stature. It will be curious on how he will pan out. I hope he will develop as a solid #2 on the future Yankee rotation. If he fills out more frame, gain bit more velocity and polish the command to adjust to major league hitting, he could be better.

Also won Manny’s signed baseball from eBay for 21 bucks. In the future I hope it will be much much more worth haha

Everyone seems always a tad behind on Banuelos each year.

by TheHughesUnit on Dec 15, 2025 11:05 AM EST up reply actions

Banuelos does not seem like an A- to me. I want to see if his velocity truly carries into games and if his command holds in AA and AAA before putting him higher than a B+.

by limozeen on Dec 14, 2025 5:01 PM EST up reply actions

He did pitch in AA

And he pitched pretty well. The AzFL ASG he pitched pretty well.

by Omar Little on Dec 14, 2025 10:36 PM EST up reply actions

some others are debatable as well

Montero and Banuelos are two guys that’s definately big prospects.. the rest is a interesting collection that all have some pretty obvious pros and cons and debates could be made for either way…

You have guys like Betances and Brackman that has great potential but crappy health record (and inconsistent track record as well) you have Sanchez who put up crazy numbers and has the tools but very far away… you have Romine who’s a interesting collection of youth / tools but inconsistent performance.

Then you also have a lot of pitchers thats interesting in some ways… Ramirez / Phelps / Noesi / Warren etc…

They’re pretty short on non-catcher position players right now though, the guys they have either look like bench ish guys (Laird) or is too far away or have some other questionmarks.

by RollingWave on Dec 15, 2025 1:58 AM EST up reply actions

For Greinke?

Only if KC believes that Montero sticks at C long-term - they’re looking for the premiere piece to be a “up-the-middle” player.

by dbreer23 on Dec 14, 2025 9:58 AM EST up reply actions

Yeah, don't see a fit

Maybe of the Yankees are willing to part with Gardner it could happen, but not if it’s just prospects being discussed. It seems like Myers is at least as likely to stick at catcher as Montero, if not moreso, and KC has 1B/DH pretty well covered.

I see a possibility...

that Yankees will give up someone like Nova/Romine/Nunez/Betances level if they are going for #3 starter like Gavin Floyd.

by lard of the dance on Dec 14, 2025 4:27 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah, they better

Since Jackson was worth Daniel Hudson a few months back and has since significantly improved his stock. Betances++ is probably closer to the mark. Pretty hard for ChiSox to replace Jackson at this point, too.

I would not be too heartbroken

if they give up Nova, Romine, and Nunez. If they trade Nunez, I will pray that David Adams will repeat the excellence he had going on this year before the ankle injury. I’ve never been too huge on Romine. his batting stats have regressed as he went to higher levels and I think one of the reasons Yankees signed Martin was that in case Jesus can’t work out as an average ML catcher, they’d use him instead of Romine for it in the future; Romine would be a trade chip methinks. As for Nova, I think we can wait on younger prospects to replace the older names in the future

Unfortunately I think Nova is needed for this rotation, though I would not be heartbroken by the other 2, especially Nunez. I’m bigger on Adams as well.

DePaula and Flores

Both were top IFA signs. Should be at least listed… Take off Gamel for at least Jose DePaula.

Any love for...

Graham Stoneburner?

He had a great 2010 and his career minor league K/BB is 4.09 (3.88 in high A portion of 2010, still great). His stat tell me that he doesn’t allow much walks (none higher than 2.3/9IP in each level) and can strike out people (8.7K/9IP). And he can throw sinking low-mid 90’s 2seamer; you can’t teach mid-90’s fastball but it’s also hard to teach mid-90’s with sink. He also have more room for improvement so that’s another exciting aspect. I think he is really overlooked by some in this website in terms of being ranked in this system. Love me some Stoneburner… and he has such a badass name

by lard of the dance on Dec 14, 2025 4:33 PM EST reply actions

Stoneburner is an interesting one. BA earlier in the year said his fastball was straight and that he was a future reliever, but recently contradicted that and said that he had a good sinker. Probably somewhat similar to Chris Balcom-Miller in terms of future and ceiling (a good #4 starter in the Jake Westbrook mold, perhaps?).

by limozeen on Dec 14, 2025 5:02 PM EST up reply actions

Better Prospect Noesi or Phelps?

Are either better than #5 starters/ long relievers?

by InstantClassic on Dec 14, 2025 4:57 PM EST reply actions

good question

I think both can be decent #5’s. Noesi might have a higher ceiling but Phelps is no slouch and seems much more developed now. I saw his pitching video from this year against Pawtucket Sox and he seemed to have a cleaner delivery than his Notre Dame days (less hesitation, smoother tempo, etc.) and did not seem to be afraid to pitch to the inside and outside corners, which is a plus. His fastball or secondary pitches aren’t too special but if his pitching smarts so far can take him well to Major Leagues, I think he can see some success. Noesi is an interesting case, I think he has more zip on fastball than Phelps and bit better stuff and also a good control but he’s a flyball guy and his stuff is maybe above average/average and not outstanding. I’d take… Phelps for now but not crossing Noesi off yet because he has yet to prove in AAA and we shall see if he improves or not.

I'd definitely take Noesi

http://bullpenbanter.com/

by jar75 on Dec 14, 2025 5:55 PM EST up reply actions

Higher ceiling

He has the better stuff of the two, and I could see him being a borderline #3 if he improves his breaking ball a bit. Phelps looks like 5th starter/bullpen fodder.

Nova

I wonder why Nova isn’t more highly thought of. Big kid. Mid nineties heater…looks like he has good breaking stuff…good (very good) minor league numbers…
What’s not to like? Just needs to develop don’t you guys think?

by Blackoak11 on Dec 15, 2025 3:28 PM EST reply actions

Jairo Heredia

I realize he’s struggled a bit at high A ball, but I still think there’s something there with this guy. I mean, if you take a close look at his numbers, low WHIP, doesn’t walk much, doesn’t give up a lot of long balls…I just think this guy really gets overlooked.

I don’t know this system as well as some of the others, so I’m not sure who I’d cut, but I like Heredia enough to put him Top 20.

by Aslan on Dec 15, 2025 5:46 PM EST reply actions

I love Heredia, but I don’t see him too close this year.
I ranked him too high, too fast personally and had him top 5 in the system very early. Now I rank him just ahead of Whitley and just behind Gamel. Not a bad guy to still watch since he is around top 50, but I wouldn’t put him on the list yet. He has already been moved the bullpen.
