5/9 MILB Thread
The weekend is finally here, but at least as of now, not the greatest day for pitching probables -
Starting pitchers to look for today include -
Daryl Thompson, Jeff Samardzija, Ervin Santana AAA rehab, Marc Rzepczynski, Bryan Augenstein, Aaron Poreda, Kasey Kiker, Jeremy McBryde, Jeff Allison, David Francis, Manny Banuelos, Alexander Perez, Martin Perez
By the way, does anyone know why Eric Hosmer has not played since May 5th? Though his overall line is still bad, he had been heating up (.323 in last 10), so curious why he would spend a few days on the bench.

Post away.

JD on Feliz:
“Typically something this minor wouldn’t warrant a medical update if the subject was a lesser name,” Daniels wrote in a e-mail.

new
Minor league right-hander Neftali Feliz had his sore right shoulder examined by team doctor Keith Meister, who agreed with the initial diagnosis. Feliz is now asymptomatic and has been cleared to throw again.

peoria romped over fort wayne 7-1
Chris Archer: 4 shutout, 2 h, 2bb, 7 K’s. Season: 1.17 ERA in 23 innings, 26 K’s, 10 h, but 15 bb. no homers. We got him in the DeRosa trade - he was the upside arm. Some intriguing moments, but like Carpenter, control is a big issue.
alberto cabrera got the win, 4 shutout, 2 K’s, 1 h, 4 bb. Another live arm, but really raw.
Josh Harrison - 2/5, 1 r, 1 3b, 3 rbi. .380/.404/.528.
Rebel Ridling - 2/5. .291/.350/.476.
Josh Vitters - 2/5. .327/.362/.480.
Grain of salt on the first two, as both are college bats who should have positive results in Low A.

Other Cubs
OFs Tyler Colvin and Tony Campana had a nasty collision in the OF in Daytona. Both had to be stretchered out. Reportedly, Campana was released from the hospital and Colvin has not been released yet since he might be showing signs of a concussion. That was what allowed the Dominic Brown HR, FWIW.
Tony Thomas went 2/4 with another double.
Darwin Barney and Brandon Guyer went 3/5 with 1 XBH each (2B for Barney, 3B for Guyer)
Rafael Dolis pitched 4 scoreless innings, struck out six, gave up 2 hits, and gave up 2 walks
Jeff Samardzija threw three innings, giving up 2 ER on 3 H (one of which was a HR) and 1 K
Jeff Stevens threw a perfect inning and might get himself some potential callup consideration if he keeps his walks down
That’s about it.

Manny Banuelos
dominant tonight. 5 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 8 strikeouts.
On the season (22 2/3 IP) 3.18 ERA, 25 strikeouts against 8 walks, 1 homer allowed. Not too shabby for an 18 year-old lefty in full season ball.

Dom Brown
4-5, 2 Runs, HR, 6 RBI
Now has 6 HR and a line of .330/.409/.623/1.032
He’s pretty much a one man show for the Clearwater team. He certainly is making Baseball America look smart right now for naming him the #1 Phils prospect.

Reid Brignac hit a solo HR and drew a walk
Justin Ruggiano(not really a prospect at this point) had a grand slam and two solo home runs.
