Good morning everyone and welcome to the Minor League Ball Morning Report for Thursday, June 28th, 2018.
****Yesterday’s Gameday discussion is here.
****Cleveland Indians rookie Shane Bieber threw six strong innings against the St. Louis Cardinals yesterday, allowing six hits, one walk, and one run while fanning five. Fellow rookie and mound opponent Jack Flaherty was more human, giving up six hits, two walks, and four runs in four innings.
****Cincinnati Reds prospect Hunter Greene threw six impressive frames for Low-A Dayton yesterday, allowing three hits and two walks for one run, fanning seven and being clocked at 100 MPH several times. He’s really turned things around after a poor April; in his last 10 games he has a 2.98 ERA over 45 innings with a 50/13 K/BB. His pitch counts are being gradually increased, he’s had no problems with velocity, he’s throwing strikes, and reports on his slider are increasingly positive.
You can see some video of his start here although I can’t get it to embed properly: http://www.milb.com/r/video?content_id=2205158483&topic_id=&sid=milb&tcid=vpp_copy_2205158483&v=3
****Two key promotions yesterday: the Minnesota Twins promoted right-hander Brusdar Graterol from Low-A to High-A and the Pittsburgh Pirates promoted right-hander Mitch Keller from Double-A to Triple-A.
