Good day everyone and welcome to the Minor League Ball Morning Report for Wednesday, May 23rd, 2018. Here’s a quick review of yesterday’s events:

****Tampa Bay Rays infielder Willy Adames hit a home run off of Chris Sale in his major league debut.

****Washington Nationals rookie outfielder Juan Soto enjoys controlling the strike zone and drew three walks in his second major league start.

****A solid outing from Miami Marlins rookie lefty Caleb Smith: one run over 6.2 innings against the New York Mets, giving up three hits and two walks with eight strikeouts.

****Texas Rangers prospect Andy Ibanez hit two homers for Triple-A Round Rock. He’s been quite good this year at .320/.399/.490. At age 25 he is an older prospect although there are some extenuating circumstances: he’s from Cuba and didn’t sign until 2016. He can play second and third and has some pop; someone should be able to use him.

****Philadelphia Phillies prospect Enyel De Los Santos threw seven strong innings for Triple-A Lehigh Valley against Rochester, giving up one run on five hits and a walk while whiffing five.

****Phellow Phillies prospect Adam Haseley went 4-for-5 with a home run and five RBI for High-A Clearwater. The first round pick from the University of Virginia in 2017 has hit .359 over his last 10 games and stands at .275/.299/.386 overall.

****San Diego Padres prospect Fernando Tatis Jr. went 3-for-4 with a home run and four runs scored for Double-A San Antonio. He’s up to .251/.327/.481 with nine homers and has pulled out of his early slump.

****More highlights can be found in Tuesday’s Gameday discussion thread.
