Phillies MOD

Greetings and salutations.

With two picks at 1.3 and 4.107 to go with a signing pool of $8,858,500, the Phillies are positioned to add impact talent at the top of the draft and can make a run on an over-slot sign in the 4th round. I can't expect much if any discount at 1.3 but 4.107 is worth $522,900 and the Phillies can spend an extra $442,900 without breaking the 5% threshold. Committing to a $125,000 signing bonus cap in Rounds 5-10 would free up $638,100; in total the Phillies can earmark a minimum of $1,603,900 towards signing their 4th round pick. But since I can't talk to any prospects and barter a pre-draft deal we'll have to figure out whom our 4th round pick will be once the mock draft begins.

According to everything I've read the Phillies seem to be focusing on college bats and the three best that could be available at 1.3 include Nick Madrigal, Joey Bart and Alec Bohm. Bohm seems to be the popular pick in most of the national mocks but I'm not sure I buy that he sticks at 3B and adding a quality, up-the-middle defender like Madrigal or Bart has its appeal.

I'd like to hear some Philly-centric voices share their thoughts.
