San Diego Mock Draft Revisited

This Fanpost compares the San Diego Padres mock draft with the team's MLB free agent draft results yesterday and today.

First Round, Third Pick Overall
Mock Draft Selection - Brendan McKay, 1B/LHP, Louisville (Rays, (4th overall)
Padres Draft Selection - Mackenzie Gore, LHP, South Carolina HS (5th overall)
Comment: Assunming Greene to Cincinnati, this pick between Wright, McKay, Gore and Lewis always looked like a toss-up to me. Under pressure, I guessed wrong.

Second Round, 38th Pick Overall
Mock Draft Selection - Michael Mercado, RHP, California HS (40th overall)
Padres Draft Selection - Luis Campusano, C, Georgia HS (91st overall)
Comment: Concerns about Mercado's willingness to sign are presumably answered by Tampa selecting him 40th as I assume Tampa did their homework on the kid.

Second Round Compensation, 69th Pick Overall
Mock Draft Selection - Conner Wong, C, Univ. Houston (100th overall)
Padres Draft Selection -Blake Hunt, C, California HS (Not Selected)
Comment: Another HS catcher for the Padres -- this time I got the position right, at least.

Third Round, 78th Pick Overall
Mock Draft Selection - Adam Hall, SS, Canada HS (60th overall)
Padres Draft Selection - Mason House, OF, Texas HS (77th overall)
Comment: This is the only player I drafted that went higher in the real draft.

Fourth Round, 108th Pick Overall
Mock Draft Selection: Peter Solomon, RHP, Notre Dame (121st overall)
Padres Draft Selection: Sam Keating, RHP, Florida HS (126th overall)
Comment: The Padres took high school players with their first six picks.
