Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the Minor League Ball Gameday discussion thread for Friday, May 19th, 2017. Here we go.
****Today’s Minor League Scoreboard
****Yesterday’s Highlights can be found in the Thursday discussion thread.
COOL STUFF THAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY
****11 strikeouts for Minnesota Twins right-hander Jose Berrios yesterday against the Colorado Rockies, giving up one walk, two hits, and no runs in 7.2 innings. I imagine he feels he belongs now.
****Philadelphia Phillies prospect Rhys Hoskins continued his destruction of the Triple-A International League, going 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs and five RBI for Lehigh Valley. He is now hitting .343/.430/.702 with 12 homers.
****Arizona Diamondbacks pitching prospect Cody “Alabama” Reed fanned nine in a complete game shutout for Low-A Kane County, giving him a 1.08 ERA in 41.2 innings with a 47/9 K/BB.
****Cincinnati Reds pitching prospect Cody “Mississippi” Reed went seven strong innings for Triple-A Louisville, fanning nine while allowing four hits, three walks, and two runs. He was hit hard in his first two starts since coming down from Cincinnati so this game was good to see.
****Oakland Athletics prospect Matt Chapman hit a home run in his third consecutive game for Triple-A Nashville. He’s hit eight home runs now, part of a .239/.317/.557 slash line. Good power and the defense has been as strong as ever, but batting average/OBP remain concerns going forward.
