Good afternoon everybody and welcome to the Minor League Ball Gameday discussion thread for Monday, May 15th, 2017. I hope everyone had a good Mother’s Day. Let’s get started.

****Today’s MLB scoreboard

****Highlights from yesterday can be found in the Sunday comments thread.

COOL STUFF THAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY

****Toronto Blue Jays prospect Anthony Alford hit a home run for Double-A New Hampshire on Sunday, just 1-for-5 overall but part of a recent mini-surge going 6-for-14 with three walks in his last four games. Overall he’s hitting .313/.398/.455 with three homers, 14 walks, 24 strikeouts, and nine steals in 10 attempts over 112 at-bats. This is very good to see, a strong transition to Double-A after a spotty ‘16 in High-A.

****Atlanta Braves pitching prospect Lucas Sims continues mowing down Triple-A hitters, fanning 10 over 6.2 innings for Gwinnett against Columbus yesterday. He now has a 2.16 ERA in 41.2 innings with a 42/9 K/BB and a tiny 25 hits allowed. Given Atlanta’s penchant for rapid promotions when a player is performing well, I imagine we could see him as soon as a spot is open.

****Texas Rangers prospect Ronald Guzman hit two homers for Triple-A Round Rock yesterday, moving his season line up to .343/.404/.518 in 137 at-bats.

****Colorado Rockies prospect Brendan Rodgers continues to destroy California League pitching, going 4-for-4 yesterday, hitting .548 (!) in his last 10 games and .418/.435/.684 overall.
