Good afternoon fellow baseball fans and welcome to the Minor League Ball Gameday discussion thread for Tuesday, October 17th, 2017.

Monday was Day Six of the 2017 Arizona Fall League. Some highlights:

****Cincinnati Reds third base prospect Taylor Sparks hit a two-run homer for the Scottsdale Scorpions, although this didn’t prevent them from falling to the Surprise Saguaros by a 9-8 score. St. Louis Cardinals prospect Sandy Alcantara threw three shutout innings for the Saguaros.

****Toronto Blue Jays prospect Lourdes Gurriel went 3-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI for the Peoria Javelinas in their 6-2 victory over Salt River. Atlanta Braves pitching prospect Max Fried threw five shutout innings for Peoria with four strikeouts. Baltimore Orioles prospect Ryan Mountcastle homered for Salt River in a losing cause.

****Five Glendale Desert Dogs pitchers combined to throw nine shutout innings against the Mesa Solar Sox in a 2-0 victory, with 11 strikeouts and just three hits and one walk allowed. The victory went to starting pitcher Elniery Garcia of the Philadelphia Phillies system, who fanned five over four innings with one hit allowed.
