I am now working on the Atlanta Braves Top 20 prospects list for 2017. The next team in the queue is the Kansas City Royals, to be followed by the Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians, and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Use this thread to discuss the Kansas City Royals organization. Some points worthy of discussion include, but are certainly not limited to:
***After winning the World Series in 2015, the Royals slid back to 81-81 in 2016. Do you think a serious re-tooling is needed to restore the team to the post-season, or will marginal changes be enough to fight entropy? Keep in mind that the front office is already making it clear that payroll limits are in place and taking on a lot more salary is not an option.
***Infielder Raul Mondesi hit just .185/.231/.281 in 135 at-bats in his major league debut but is still only 21 year old. How much do you think his hitting can improve over the next few years?
***Cheslor Cuthbert took over at third base when Mike Moustakas got hurt and performed well enough to hold the job. How would you deploy him going forward?
***What’s your plan for Hunter Dozier?
***Do you guys like Josh Staumont’s stuff as much as I do? Do you think his undoubted command problems mean he is destined to be a reliever?
***As always, share your sleepers and anything else Royals-oriented in the discussion thread.
