2011 College World Series: Florida vs. South Carolina
So the College World Series starts tomorrow, with Florida vs. South Carolina.
I predict Florida wins the first game 4-1, then SC staves off elimination to win 6-3 in game two.
Florida will then win Game Three 3-2.
What do you guys think?

SC has the edge in intangibles and the incredible winning streak, but Florida has the better offense (and Zunino has barely contributed in Omaha yet) and they’ve got a huge leg-up on SC because of what happened to SC’s pitching staff on Friday.
The Gators will have a very well-rested pitching staff, will be able to set up their starters exactly how they want them, and have shown that Maddox is more than capable to close out games for them. On the other hand, SC can’t start Roth until Tuesday at the earliest - and that would be on only 3 days rest. SC really needed Roth to start game 1 and shut down the Gator’s lefty-dominated power hitters. On top of that, Matt Price basically pitched an entire ballgame on Friday (91 pitches), so I don’t see him as being available for any more than a batter or 2 until Tuesday.
I’d pick SC in any straight-up 3 game series between these 2 teams, but, due to the issues with Roth and Price, for this series I’m with you, John. Florida in 3 games.

FYI
Christian Walker is questionable for the series. Injured his wrist on last at bat in Virginia game. Couldn’t swing the bat today. Possible hamate injury. Huge blow for the Gamecocks.

I'm a simple man so...
…Florida in 2 straight. It would be impressive if South Carolina were to win it and repeat, especially with Walker possibly a no show for the series. Things like that can inspire a team but Florida seems to have more advantages going in.
