There are two interviews which should be ready in the coming week although I don't know what days I will post them yet. I am going to Oklahoma next weekend to see Texas A&M and Josh Stilson (hopefully) play.

The transition of early 80’s light hitting, above average fielding ss’s to mid 90’s and current average hitting, above average fielding ss’s.

I’ve always wondered why teams tried to go the current route just because of guys like AROD, Jeter, Nomar and to a lesser extent Renteria when it wasn’t the norm. What do you think made teams change the ways the shortstop position was played?

Ben Christensen

As a Cubs fan I remember when they drafted Ben Christensen. He was the kid who intentionally threw at warm up pitch at the head of an opposing player during the pre-inning warm ups. He said he was trying to make a statement and the kid leading off the inning was taking warm up swings too close to the plate. The batter ended up with a fractured facial bones around the eye. The Cubs drafted Christensen in the First Round - despite the incident - and I don’t ever remember seeing him at MLB level.

John - Can you share how you graded him coming out of college, and where you think his career went wrong as a pro?
