We do not have a single 2B prospect yet.
Unless you count Lawrie. Either way, it is by far the most underrepresented position on the CPL.

IMO, he's still the 4th or 5th best 2b prospect
I’d still have D’Arnaud and Cardenas ahead of him. And 2B is usually underrepresented - most major league 2Bs are failed shortstop prospects.

Is that really a bad thing though?
How many elite 2B prospects do we ever see on any given year’s list? 1 if we are lucky? 2B is always the fallback position for prospects. I really don’t think we should be voting for Weeks simply because we have no 2B players on the list yet.

Really?
You’re better than that, alskor. Positional scarcity is an awful, awful argument. Particularly when so few major league 2Bs actually play the position in the minors.
Vote for the player, not for positional balance.

I maintain that when we get to the 80's its an issue.
The argument for Weeks goes way beyond positional scarcity. I’ve made the rest of the argument before (maybe 6-10 polls back). I was adding this for people who might be overvaluing big sluggers.

I guess. There are a few off the ballot that I’d rather have.

Why aren't you voting for the player you prefer?
It really makes it difficult if people don’t vote for the player they really prefer. Last poll 4 people voted for Tim Melville who wasn’t scheduled to come back on for a few polls, but I added him because there was obvious support. I need to see that type of thing for players off the poll so if there is an option that needs on sooner, I can get them back on. I’m going to ask that you please write in your vote for your preferred prospect if you don’t mind, as it’s really much more helpful than people seem to realize.

I did that for poll #83
I wrote in Jose Iglesias. He was put back on the poll for #84 and performed poorly. There is little hope that he can win as a write in so I decided to go with the best option that I saw on the ballot.
by jar75 on Mar 22, 2026 2:27 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
It's not about whether a guy can win as a write in
it’s seeing actual support for a guy to know if they need back on in a hurry.

I understand, but that also opens up the door for other players to be voted in
I’d essentially be throwing my 85th round vote away in order to get Iglesias on the ballot sooner. Considering that he was just on last poll, I don’t really see it making much of a difference if I write him in this round. I’m not much of a Neal fan, and I really don’t like Ramos, so I felt it would be better to vote for the one that I like most among those that have a chance at winning.

We’ll see if he is another Cal league mirage. The Giants have long been hyping up his power, and he finally showed it last year. I think there is something to his breakout beyond just a favorable environment.
by guru4u on Mar 22, 2026 4:05 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
San Jose...
isn’t a favorable hitting environment. Yes it’s a hitter’s league, but he played half his games in a pitcher’s park.
by slamcactus on Mar 22, 2026 4:52 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
There's no such thing as a pitcher's park in the Cali League
If you adjust the park factors for the league factor, every single park is still a hitter’s park. Or at least that was the case last time I ran the numbers 4 or 5 years ago. Not sure if anyone has taken the time to calculate league factors since then.

I'd...
be curious to see the results of your “running the numbers.” Did you just multiply by BA’s league factors they published way back in 2004? Because I don’t put much stock in that data.

He is clearly the best remaining to me. If Wilmer Font or Hak Ju Lee started getting a lot of support, I suppose I could vote for one of them instead. But Knapp should be on by now.
