Dynasty trade offer

The offer which has been proposed to me is his Colby Rasmus for my Carlos Gonzalez and Jason Castro.  Format is H2H Dynasty League.

I am a huge Colby Rasmus fan (seeing him numerous times in the minors) and am looking to acquire his services.  I have Cargo to deal but have a slight reservation of accepting the offer for Rasmus.   Do you believe that Castro slants the advantage his way or would you review this as a throw in.

Can anyone talk me out of accepting this offer..

Unless there's something I am missing....

Keep CarGo and Castro. Rasmus plays the same position as CarGo, so it doesn’t really seem like it will improve your outfield. And it seems like throwing in Castro just tips it way too far to the other side.

Are there any other things related to this that might be affecting it? (Contracts, ability to keep, etc?)

Nope there is no other criteria.

Castro's ceiling is at best, what, an average fantasy catcher?

I really like Rasmus and, if your league slots OF/OF/CF, then he’s probably a better value than Gonzalez, who will most likely move to the corner for Fowler. But Gonzalez is a much more well-rounded fantasy option right now because of the steals and batting average.

He probably won’t hit as well as he did last year, though, so you’re really banking on Rasmus’s ceiling. If you buy into the AS-quality player most expect him to be, do the deal. If you have hesitations or are looking for more immediate returns, keep Gonzalez.

Castro’s a relative nonentity in this deal.

If you like Rasmus more than CarGo long-term, I wouldn’t worry much about Castro. I don’t see him as an impact player.

Exactly

Castro has more value in sim leagues due to his very good D. For straight roto fantasy, I’d rather have the Rasmus end of this deal.

If this is a 10 or 12 team league, I don’t see Castro having much value and would rather have Rasmus than CarGo. If it was 20 or 30 teams, I might hold tight with Castro.

Rasmus v. Carlos Gonzalez

Are fairly comparable players and I like Rasmus a little more than Carlos Gonzalez.
It’s a tough call, but I clicked on keeping Gonzalez because of his potential for both SBs and HRs.

that said…

Though Rasmus stole bases in the minor leagues, Tony LaRusa hasn’t given him much of a green light yet. I believe Rasmus will hit for more power and average but steal less bases in general.
The other benefit of Rasmus is his obvious playing time, right now Carlos Gonzalez has to contend with Fowler, Smith, Hawpe, Spilboroghs and other cast of characters for playing time.

don’t worry about Castro.
