Good morning everyone and welcome to the Minor League Ball Morning Report for Monday, May 28th, 2018. I hope everyone has a safe Memorial Day.
Some stuff that happened on Sunday:
****Atlanta Braves phenom Ronald Acuna suffered a brutal-looking knee injury. As I write this there is still no word on how serious the injury is or how long he will be out. Video here:
****Pittsburgh Pirates rookie outfielder Austin Meadows went 2-for-3 against the St. Louis Cardinals and is now hitting .455 in his first 33 major league at-bats. He’s hit three homers and stolen three bases without being caught.
****Los Angeles Dodgers rookie Walker Buehler continues to dominate National League hitters, giving up just one run over seven innings against the San Diego Padres, whiffing eight with zero walks allowed. He now has a 2.20 ERA in 41 innings with a 48/9 K/BB.
****Another Dodgers prospect, infielder Gavin Lux, went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI for High-A Rancho Cucamonga. He’s up to .313/.401/.475.
****Baltimore Orioles prospect Keegan Akin struck out 10 over seven shutout innings for Double-A Bowie. He has a 2.97 ERA in 57.2 innings with a 63/21 K/BB and just 44 hits allowed.
****Minnesota Twins prospect Royce Lewis hit two home runs in the first game of a double header for the Low-A Cedar Rapids Kernels. He’s hitting .303/.350/.407.
****Yesterday’s Gameday Discussion thread has more highlights.
