Good day everyone and welcome to the Arizona Fall League morning roundup for Wednesday, November 7th, 2018. Here’s a quick look at what happened in the AFL yesterday.
****Mesa got past Peoria 7-5. Milwaukee Brewers prospect Weston Wilson hit a home run in the losing cause. For the winners, the highlight was a three-hit game from Detroit Tigers prospect Daniel Woodrow, plus four shutout innings from Chicago Cubs prospect Erick Leal, who fanned five. Leal has now thrown 17.1 innings without allowing a run with a 17/9 K/BB and just 10 hits allowed.
****Surprise stomped Glendale 10-1. Toronto Blue Jays prospect Cavan Biggio and Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Bryan Reynolds each collected three hits for the victors, while starting pitcher Scott Blewett of the Kansas City Royals system gave up just one run in four innings of work. Pirates infielder Cole Tucker and St. Louis Cardinals prospect Andy Young each scored two runs. Arizona Diamondbacks prospect Renae Martinez provided the only Glendale run with a solo homer.
****Salt River nipped Scottsdale 3-2. Arizona Diamondbacks prospect Jon Duplantier struck out nine over 4.2 innings for Salt River, while Cincinnati Reds prospect Taylor Trammell provided two hits in the losing cause, both hits being doubles. Colorado Rockies prospect Sam Hilliard homered for the Rafters.
