Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the Minor League Ball Gameday discussion thread for Thursday, May 25th, 2017. Let’s get started.

****Today’s Minor League Scoreboard

****Today’s MLB scoreboard

****Yesterday’s Highlights can be found in the Wednesday discussion thread.

COOL STUFF THAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY

****Minnesota Twins right-hander Jose Berrios threw 6.1 innings against the Baltimore Orioles, allowing four hits, two walks, and three runs but fanning seven and breaking off pitches like this:

And this

****Seven shutout innings from Philadelphia Phillies pitching prospect Ranger Suarez for Low-A Lakewood in the South Atlantic League, with 10 strikeouts, four hits, and one walk. The Venezuelan lefty now has a 2.01 ERA in 45 innings with a 56/13 K/BB.

****St. Louis Cardinals outfield prospect Jose Adolis Garcia went 4-for-7 in a doubleheader for Springfield in the Double-A Texas League. He’s now hitting .280/.344/.441 in 143 at-bats. The Cardinals spent $2,500,000 to sign the 24-year-old Cuban back in February.

****Baltimore Orioles outfield prospect Austin Hays hit three homers yesterday for the Frederick Keys in the High-A Carolina League. A third round pick in 2016 from Jacksonville University, Hays is now hitting .321/.358/.552 on the season. A caution flag is a 7/25 BB/K ratio in 165 at-bats but so far his aggressive approach hasn’t hurt him at all. He mashed the New York-Penn League last summer too (.336/.386/.514) and his excellent bat speed is perhaps too much for A-ball pitching. At this point I doubt he’s challenged until he reaches Double-A and sees better breaking stuff.
