It's draft day part two and most of our attention is in that direction right now. Stop by the discussion thread. In the meantime, here is a separate discussion thread for minor league (and major league of course) action.
***Yesterday's Minor League Ball Gameday thread.
***Lee Warren is going to update us weekly on what's happening around the Pacific Coast League. I'm looking for people to provide similar coverage of the other minor leagues; we'll discuss that in more detail once draft season is over.
***Royals prospect Yordano Ventura gave up one run in five innings in his first start for Triple-A Omaha, fanning six but walking four. I expect more of this as the summer progresses: his command still needs polish, and Royals fans shouldn't be seeing him as a savior anytime soon. Huge upside, of course, and I like him for 2014, but he's not quite ready yet.
***Today's Minor League Baseball schedule.
***Must-read research from Chris St. John at Beyond the Boxscore regarding walk rates, strikeout rates, and prospect success rates.
