matt adams ?

matt adams - is he for real? kid just hates baseballs. doesn't strike out a ton and HUGE power. yeah, texas league, but he mashed in low a last year too. Can a 700th round pick be this good? doesn't walk a ton, but i think that's mostly because he can make contact with pretty much anything.

maybe part of it but

16 HR away from home and 14 HR at home. Also, still batting .301/.368/.579 away. Not too bad. Has extremely quick hands, massive power. Might be the best pure hitting prospect in the Texas League.

The kid kills the ball for sure

but I’d like to see his k/bb ratio get closer to 1:1 and see what he does at AAA. I think the power is real, but I’m concerned his contact rates could take a hit against more advanced pitching.

Also, if Pujols stays, there is really no room for him to play.

Adams is so big that he is absolutely relegated to 1B.

Have you looked at the Cardinals? We’ve got at least 3-4 1b on the roster right now. Tony LaRussa just puts them wherever he wants. Pujols is at 1b, Berkman is in RF, Allen Craig has played all three outfield positions, 2b, and 3b. Mark Hamilton has bounced back and forth between AAA and the big league club and he’s a 1b as well.
