Philadelphia Phillies Organization Discussion
I am now working on the Los Angeles Angels. The next team on the list is the Philadelphia Phillies. Use this thread to discuss the Phillies system, pointing out sleepers in particular.

Julio Rodriguez
Do his stuff match the results? He had 126 K’s in just 90 IP this year
If everybody likes you, then either no one knows anything about you, or you're dead.

Sounds pretty good
Rodriguez featured a fastball that I clocked on the scoreboard between 90-93 MPH, sitting primarily at 91. He used his 4 seem fastball up in the zone, utilizing very good rising action. His 12 to 6 curveball is slow with sharp diving action out of the zone. The Stadium gun had him consistently throwing his curve between 75-77 Mph. His third pitch, his changeup, was used on a couple of occasions. I recorded one reading of 83 MPH, noting good arm action. Not enough changeups were thrown for me to give an accurate scouting report. Julio Rodriguez was one of the two best pitchers I saw in the Sally this season.

Thoughts on Jesse Biddle...
the HS lefty they drafted last year?
He had a good arm but the mechanics were just plain raw. He’s a better athlete than that, and I’m curious to see what he looks like in a couple years.

Aaron Altherr
Chuck Lamar had some nice things to say about Altherr at the end of last season.
“He started out in extended spring this year. Outstanding athlete who just needed, like all of them, to continue to play our game and get at-bats,” LaMar said. “I just saw him along with Benny [Looper] and Marti [Wolever] and the group and he’s going to be the next name that surfaces that the folks who follow us closely may not have heard of. Next year, when he goes to [Low-A] Lakewood, they’re going to start to hear about him. I don’t know how low you can pick rotisserie guys, but I’d get him in my farm system somewhere.”
Curious to hear what else John knows about him.

Altherr is very tall and is leaner than Brown, he has a lot of projection
He sat out the game I saw them play as they had to keep running Kyrell Hudson out there who can’t hit a lick but can field.

Scott Mathieson
I dont think he counts as a rookie anymore, but I would really like to know what John sees in him.
