The State of the Blog

As you have no doubt noticed, I've been somewhat scarce on the blog lately. I have been overwhelmed with various work projects, and something had to give. I'd like to thank you for your patience during this time, and assure you that things will be getting back to normal here.

But one thing that this time has done is given me some breathing space to reassess where things stand with the blog.

First of all, you guys have done a great job keeping things active while I have been quiet. We have a great community here, one that continues to grow.

Secondly, even before July I was starting to feel that the blog was getting stale. Not BORING, but that I was in a creative rut and needed to break out of it. While I want to continue with our popular features of the past (Guess the Prospect, Crystal Balls, Prospect Retros, Prospect Smackdowns, etc.), I want to do some other things, too.

I am open to suggestions. Keep in mind that my schedule is still tight and I simply don't have time to devote 4-5 hours a day on the blog like I had been doing. I will need to balance things that are time-consuming and things that are not, especially once I start working on the 2008 book. I will also be doing some more opinion pieces like the Bonds thing, and more off-topic things like the investment thread, just to remind myself that there is more to life than prospect analysis.

I am going to be pretty busy with things this weekend, but on Monday we will try to get back on a firmer posting schedule. We will have an All-Questions Answered Thread sometime next week, and I will post a schedule for next week this weekend.

Again, thanks for your patience.

John
