Current forecast calls for a major ice storm somewhere near Lawrence starting Monday night into Wednesday. Some models calling for 1-3 inches of ice precipitation. If this forecast verifies, I might be out of touch for a few days.

When I was a kid, we had snowstorms. Now it seems like we have a lot more icestorms.

From the Topeka National Weather Service Forecast Discussion for this afternoon:
QPF AMOUNTS IN THE GFS/EUROPEAN LOOK VERY ROBUST WITH 00Z TUESDAY-18Z TUESDAY QPF AMOUNTS OF NEARLY 2 INCHES. IF THIS WERE TO FALL AS ALL FREEZING RAIN...THE IMPACT ON THE INFRASTRUCTURE OF EASTERN KS WOULD BE VERY DETRIMENTAL. AS LOW LEVEL TEMPERATURES BECOME BETTER RESOLVED PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO UPDATED WATCHES AND WARNINGS. IF THIS EVENT WINDS UP WITH 1 TO 2 INCHES OF LIQUID RAINFALL...THE IMPACT MAY BE LIMITED TO LOCALIZED FLOODING AS OPPOSED TO A VIRTUAL INFRASTRUCTURE SHUTDOWN.
