This ends the Crystal Balls. Tomorrow we will look at some of the Community Projections and see how those turned out.

Wednesday CB Review

Kei Igawa.

Crystal Ball: 30 starts, 196 innings, 198 hits, 102 runs, 98 earned, 26 homers, 59 walks, 134 strikeouts, 13-10, 4.50.

Reality: 14 games, 12 starts, 68 innings, 76 hits, 48 runs, 47 earned, 15 homers, 37 walks, 53 strikeouts, 2-3, 6.25.

Comparison: I think I was smoking crack or something when I did the Igawa CB.

Noah Lowry

Crystal Ball: 30 starts, 188 innings, 190 hits, 98 runs, 92 earned, 23 homers, 66 walks, 142 strikeouts, 12-12, 4.40.

Reality: 26 starts, 156 innings, 155 hits, 76 runs, 68 earned, 12 homers, 87 walks, 87 strikeouts, 14-8, 3.92.

Comparison: I really don't like what happened to his K/BB ratio in reality. . .that's a red flag.

Ryan Braun

Crystal Ball: 102 games, 411 at-bats, 66 runs, 125 hits, 27 doubles, 3 triples, 19 homers, 65 RBI, 24 walks, 78 strikeouts, 19 steals, 3 caught, .304.

Reality:113 games, 451 at-bats, 91 runs, 146 hits, 26 doubles, 6 triples, 34 homers, 97 RBI, 29 walks, 112 strikeouts, 15 steals, 5 caught, .324.

Comparison: Good Lord.. . .I though he'd be great but not this great. His OPS+ in reality was 153. Can he maintain that given his problems with strike zone judgment?

Overall not a good set of CBs. Yes, I know, I advise people not to take them too seriously. They are educated guestimates. But still, I put a lot of work in them and try to make them both interesting and reasonable in most cases.
