Reviewing the Crystal Balls

Adam Loewen

Crystal Ball Said: 32 starts, 9-15, 197 innings, 209 hits, 110 earned runs, 134 strikeouts, 86 walks, 20 homers, 5.03 ERA

Reality Said: 6 starts, 2-0, 30.1 innings, 27 hits, 12 earned runs, 22 strikeouts, 26 walks, 1 homer, 3.56 ERA.

Comparison: He got hurt. Nothing much to analyze here.

Brian McCann

Crystal Ball Said: 115 games, 368 at-bats, 59 runs, 110 hits, 24 doubles, 1 triple, 15 homers, 73 RBI, 39 walks, 43 strikeouts, 4 steals, 2 caught stealing,.299 average

Reality Said: 139 games, 504 at-bats, 51 runs, 136 hits, 38 doubles, 0 triples, 18 homers, 92 RBI, 35 walks, 74 strikeouts, 0 steals, 1 caught stealing, .270 average.

Comparison: The good news is that he didn't get hurt like he did in the Crystal Ball. The bad news is that he didn't hit as well either. I wasn't too far off on Isolated Power, .193 in the CB, .182 in reality.

Andre Ethier

Crystal Ball Said: 149 games, 583 at-bats, 83 runs, 175 hits, 30 doubles, 5 triples, 16 homers, 82 RBI, 53 walks, 103 strikeouts, 6 steals, 5 caught stealing, 300 average

Reality Said: 153 games, 447 at-bats, 50 runs, 127 hits, 32 doubles, 2 triples, 13 homers, 64 RBI, 46 walks, 68 strikeouts, 0 steals, 4 caught stealing, .284 average.

Comparison: Way off on the playing time as in the CB he became a regular but he platooned more in reality. Way off on the strikeouts. I did hit the slugging percentage right, .451 in the SB vs. .452 in reality although the ISO was off.

Ryan Zimmerman.

Crystal Ball Said: 154 games, 587 at-bats, 89 runs, 183 hits, 35 doubles, 5 triples, 22 homers, 97 RBI, 63 walks, 101 strikeouts, 9 steals, 5 caught stealing,.312 average.

Reality Said: 162 games, 653 at-bats, 99 runs, 174 hits, 43 doubles, 5 triples, 24 homers, 91 RBI, 61 walks, 125 strikeouts, 4 steals, 1 caught stealing, .266 average.

Comparison: Missed the batting average big-time. VERY close on Isolated Power however, .189 in the CB vs. .192 in reality.

We will continue to review CBs as well as Community Projections.
