Yahmed Yema Update

New, 1 comment

Yahmed Yema, OF, Boston Red Sox
Looking at the New York-Penn League, I see that Yahmed Yema, possibly my favorite sleeper in the '04 draft class, is doing well so far. He's off to a solid start at Lowell: .295/.338/.410 with 4 steals, 4 walks, 5 strikeouts in 61 at-bats. The questions revolve around his power, which was very good for a smaller guy in college, but may not (or may) carry over to pro ball. The sample is too small to tell at this point, but I'm encouraged by his low strikeout rate. He has certainly not been overwhelmed thus far. Grade C+.
