Red Sox prospect Jeff Corsaletti
*Red Sox outfield prospect Jeff Corsaletti went 3-for-5 yesterday for Greenville in the Sally League, raising his average to .407 (24-for-59) with a .485 OBP and .559 SLG in 14 games. He's having no problems at all adjusting to full-season professional pitching. The Red Sox picked him in the sixth round this year from the University of Florida, and I think he is one of the biggest sleepers in the draft class. He's not a tools monster, but he is reasonably athletic, very polished, and knows how to play the game.
*The Twins just promoted Jay Rainville to Class A Fort Myers, and he threw a good game yesterday, going 6 innings, allowing 6 hits and 1 run, fanning 5 with 0 walks. He was 8-2, 3.77 in 16 starts at Beloit before the promotion, with a 77/27 K/BB in 88 innings. Personally, I don't think I would have promoted him so soon, but they didn't ask me, and it's hard to argue with the results of his first FSL start. Rainville has excellent stuff, and his command has been better than expected this year. Grade B prospect certainly, perhaps B+ by the end of the year if he keeps pitching like this.
