Veteran Calvin Murray punches a single through the infield

The compact delivery of veteran minor league lefty Les Walrond

I had some good photos of Bobby Brownlie, and Josh Willingham, but I'm having some problems with my digital camera and it is refusing to download them onto my computer. My wife (who knows a lot more about this stuff than I do) is not here right now, but when she gets back we will figure it out and get more photos posted.

Walrond is an interesting guy. I've been watching him play since he was a pitcher/outfielder at the University of Kansas in the 1990s. He's a good athlete, intelligent, has a nice clean delivery. His stuff is just a bit short. His fastball runs 87-88 MPH. He has a slider at a consistent 81 MPH, and a softer curve at 74-75. His problem is that his fastball isn't overpowering, but that his command, while good, is not exceptional. He can get Triple-A guys out, but so far he's had problems doing so in the Majors. If he could improve his command from good to excellent he could make it, but that's hard to do.
