You're the GM! San Diego Padres Edition

First, the good news. You won the Western Division. The bad news, of course, is that you finished just 82-80, finishing over .500 by the final thread in your monastic robe.

So, how do you get this team into the winner's column more often? Would you have made the just-completed Xavier Nady/Mike Cameron trade? If so, why, and if not, why not? What other actions do you have in mind? Are you willing to spend on the free agent market?

Core players Brian Giles, Ryan Klesko, Dave Roberts, and Mark Loretta are all 33 or older, and there is quite a bit of age at other positions as well. The pitching staff features the outstanding and young Jake Peavy, but how much longer can you rely on an elder statesman like Trevor Hoffman?

Your farm system isn't in particularly good condition, especially compared to division rivals in Arizona and Los Angeles. How are you going to remedy this?

Poll question in the comments thread.
