Good Memorial Day prospect watchers. Let's get right down to business.
***The big prospect news today is the promotion of Nick Franklin to the Seattle Mariners from Triple-A Tacoma. Dare I postpone Jarred Cosart's Prospect of the Day feature one more day and risk the wrath of Astros fans? I kind of think I have to. So it is Franklin tomorrow and Cosart on Wednesday. I am also working on the Joc Pederson vs. Cesar Puello Smackdown. After that it is going to be mostly draft coverage around here as we get closer to Saturday's Minor League Ball Community Mock Draft, and then of course the real 2013 MLB draft next week.
***Yesterday's Minor League Ball Gameday thread.
***Los Angeles Dodgers prospect Julio Urias, signed out of Mexico last summer, made his debut yesterday at the incredibly young age of 16. He threw three shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk, fanning six for Low-A Great Lakes against Dayton. The link from MiLB.com above has video with it, so take a look. I like what I see in his delivery and his pitchability is extremely advanced for his age. Pre-season reports have him with an 88-92 MPH fastball (the commentator in the video says he gets up to 94), a curveball, and an excellent changeup.
***Today's slate of minor league games.
