More Projection Reviews

Two of the first Community Projections we did this past spring were for minor leaguers Daric Barton and Delmon Young.

Daric Barton
Community Projection was 83 games, 259 AB, .337 BA, .448 OBP, .562 SLG, 14 homers, 53 walks, 41 strikeouts at Stockton before he gets promoted to the Texas League.

REALITY: 79 games at Stockton, 292 at-bats, .318 BA, .438 OBP, .469 SLG, 8 homers, 62 walks, 49 strikeouts.

We came fairly close there, guys and gals. We overestimated power production by almost 100 points, but otherwise I think we did a good job. We nailed the BB/AB and K/AB ratios almost perfectly.

Delmon Young
Community Projection was 120 games, 460 AB, .301 BA, .358 OBP, .520 SLG, 24 homers, 14 steals. Level not specified.

Reality: At two levels, a combined 136 games, 558 AB, .315 BA, .352 OBP, .527 SLG, 26 homers, 32 steals.

The Community Projection underestimated batting average and steals, but came very close on OBP and SLG.
