Hello everyone and welcome to the Minor League Ball Morning Report for Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018.
****New York Yankees rookie Gleyber Torres went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored yesterday against the Atlanta Braves. He’s hit .342 over his last 10 games and is hitting .296/.353/.560 overall.
****Cincinnati Reds prospect Hunter Greene was outstanding with seven shutout innings for Low-A Dayton, giving up just two hits and zero walks while fanning 10. His last bad start was on May 18th. Since then he has a 51/7 K/BB ratio in 39 innings.
Honestly, even if he keeps pitching like this I would keep him in Low-A until late July and only move him up to High-A at that point. I wouldn’t move him to Double-A at all this year.
****Atlanta Braves prospect Ian Anderson threw six shutuot innings for the High-A Florida Fire Frogs, giving up three hits and one walk while striking out 11.
****Houston Astros prospect Yordan Alvarez continues to rip Double-A pitching, going 2-for-4 with a home run for Corpus Christi and raising his season line to .323/.376/.627.
****More Highlights from Monday can be found in yesterday’s Gameday discussion thread.
