MLB: All Star Game-Futures Game Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning everyone and welcome to the Minor League Ball Morning Report for Monday, July 16th, 2018.

The big news in prospectland yesterday was the MLB All Star Futures Game. I missed the first half of the game due to a poorly-timed connectivity issue (AT&T Uverse is great when it works but has a bad habit of not working when I need it most. Unfortunately that has also been true for every internet service I’ve ever tried).

I saw the second half of the contest and for once I agree with Harold Reynolds about the exciting young talent in the game, especially with more elite athletes turning away from football. If MLB plays its cards right, more and more elite athletic talent can be brought into the game. You can track the in-game discussion here.

Just a quick update with a look at upcoming items here at Minor League Ball.

****I am working on a Top 50 mid-season prospects list. This should be finished Monday evening or Tuesday morning.

****After that we will start with our mid-season organization reviews beginning with the Minnesota Twins, Atlanta Braves, and Kansas City Royals.
