Good morning everyone and welcome to the Minor League Ball Morning Report for Friday, July 13th, 2018.
****Here’s yesterday’s Gameday discussion thread.
****Cincinnati Reds 2018 first-round pick Jonathan India went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI for the Greenville Reds in the Appalachian League yesterday. These were his first three professional hits as his career had gotten off to an 0-for-12 start, albeit 0-for-12 with six walks in four games. Since he is an advanced college player coming out of the University of Florida, I doubt India will spend much time in the Appy League.
****Los Angeles Dodgers catching prospect Keibert Ruiz went 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs for Double-A Tulsa. He’s hitting .251/.315/.397 overall which might seem a bit disappointing until you remember that he’s a 19-year-old catcher in the Texas League.
****Minnesota Twins prospect Bailey Ober is having a nice little run with Low-A Cedar Rapids in the Midwest League. He struck out 10 men over 6.2 shutout innings yesterday. He fanned 12 men over seven innings in his previous start back on July 5th and overall has a 74/8 K/BB in 64 innings this year. A few rough outings have resulted in an elevated 4.36 ERA but he’s 6-1 in 12 starts. Ober was a 12th round pick in 2017 from the College of Charleston. He’s quite tall at 6-9 and features a low-90s fastball with a plus change-up.
