Good morning everyone and welcome to the Minor League Ball Morning Report for Wednesday, June 6th, 2018. Day Three of the 2018 MLB Draft gets underway at noon Eastern and we will be here live-blogging rounds 11-40. We’ll have further draft analysis this week as well and we still have regular minor league baseball and rookie prospect news to cover.
****This actually happened Sunday but got lost in the draft shuffle Monday; Cincinnati Reds prospect Hunter Greene had another strong start, going five innings for Low-A Dayton, giving up one run on two hits and one walk, while fanning eight. That’s three good starts in a row now, with an 18/5 K/BB over 14 innings. His ERA is down to 6.32 and he has a 44/15 K/BB in 31.1 innings.
****Houston Astros prospect Josh James threw seven shutout innings for Triple-A Fresno yesterday, giving up three hits and a walk while fanning 13. Since reaching Triple-A last month he has a 49/9 K/BB in 28.1 innings with a 2.54 ERA.
****San Diego Padres rookie Franmil Reyes hit a home run against the Atlanta Braves and now has five bombs in his last 10 games.
****More highlights can be found in yesterday’s Gameday discussion thread.
