Good Sunday morning everyone and welcome to the Minor League Ball Morning Report for May 6th, 2018.
****St. Louis Cardinals outfield prospect Randy Arozarena went 2-for-5 with a Grand Slam home run for Double-A Springfield in Texas League action against Tulsa. Arozarena opened the season in Triple-A and hit .260/.368/.329 in 73 at-bats, not showing any power but holding his own in average and OBP. The step back to Double-A was more for roster reasons than anything, the Cardinals needing a spot for Luke Voit on the Memphis roster. It does not reflect a loss of stock for Arozarena.
****Tampa Bay Rays prospect Brendan McKay went 2-for-5 with a home run and five RBI for Low-A Bowling Green in the Midwest League. He’s hitting .278/.473/.370 through 54 at-bats while also pitching with a 1.45 ERA in 18.2 innings with a 33/2 K/BB.
****Chicago Cubs pitching prospect Oscar De La Cruz struck out 10 over 5.2 innings for Double-A Tennessee, giving up two hits and three walks but zero runs.
****More highlights can be found in yesterday’s Gameday discussion thread.
