Hello everyone and welcome to the Minor League Ball Morning Report for Friday, May 4th, 2018.
****Oakland Athletics prospect Jorge Mateo went 4-for-5 with two homers and three RBI for Triple-A Nashville against Colorado Springs. He’s been off to a slow start with a .198/.235/.353 line through 96 at-bats, with pitch selection being the main reported negative issue. This is reflected in his 5/27 BB/K ratio so far.
****San Diego Padres prospect Fernando Tatis Jr. went 3-for-7 for Double-A San Antonio yesterday. He appears to be heating up after a slow start, going 7-for-17 in his last three games with two homers. Be advised he’s only 19 years old.
****Cleveland Indians pitching prospect Shane Bieber made his first start for Triple-A Columbus, giving up one run on two hits and two walks in six innings, striking out five. He had pitched extremely well in Double-A before his promotion, with a 1.16 ERA in 31 innings, with a ridiculous 30/1 K/BB.
****Fellow Indians prospect Adam Plutko threw 7.1 solid innings for Cleveland against the Toronto Blue Jays, giving up three runs on six hits. He didn’t walk anyone while striking out six.
****More highlights can be found in yesterday’s Gameday Discussion thread.
